12/29/2010 Workout

I know I'm a day late posting this, but last night really kicked my butt.  I was sore from Tuesday's workout and then working the same sore muscles didn't help.  But I'm so glad that I did it! I have to start somewhere and I can't let a few tired muscles slow me down :).  Last night was actually great.  Here's the picures:

16 minutes straight on the elliptical! Thank you to a very funny episode of Scrubs for getting me throught this!

Only 1/2 mile on the treadmill today.

80 crunches on the ab machine at 60 pounds resistance
2 minutes (5 floors) on the stair climber (still not my friend...)

After leaving the gym, I walked with Abby, Jesse, and my dog (Kyah) for a mile.  It was really nice out, and a great change in scenery from the bright yellow wall infront of the treadmill at the gym.

While on my walk, Abby challenged me even more.  She had me jog along side her for a while.  While jogging, we passed one of the schools in the neighborhood.  The board gave me a little encouragement.

That's right! On my walk/jog, I pass the one in a million sign saying healthy lifestyle! Thanks for the motivation!!

Support Team

Since starting this blog, I have had a HUGE amount of support from friends and family.  I am so thankful to have them behind me every step of the way in this journey.  I thought my main support team deserved a little recognition!

My wonderful sister, Abby, has stepped up and volunteered to go walking with me whenever I want to go! Thanks sis!

My best friend, Lacey, is another great motivator! She's my gym partner, and keeps me moving!

And my third support team member is my boyfriend, Jesse.  He is constantly encouraging me, and he makes sure my dogs are taken care of while I'm at the gym.  He's also about to be my wii fit partner :)!

Starting Pictures

I don't know why it took so long for me to think of doing a "before" section.  I definitely want an "after" section, so I guess I should start with the "before" lol.  Blonde moments happen often in my life!

These are a few of the million pictures that I have taken over the past 3 or 4 months.

I'm looking forward to posting a very "small" after section :).

Today's Workout

I knew I made the right decision on skipping dinner with Jesse and his family tonight and hitting the gym the second I walked in the door.  Nothing is more motivating than being the biggest person in the gym.  Granted, there were only 4 people there tonight, but still.  Being the largest of the four definitely got me moving!

I decided to take pictures of my times tonight so I didn't have to remember what I did.

I was on the treadmill twice for a total of 1.5 miles

Then on the elliptical for a total of 13 minutes. 3 more than last night!

I also did 70 reps on the ab machine at 60 pounds of resistance.

I feel great and can't wait for tomorrow's increased workout.

Oh the temptation!

I have never realized how many temptations I have to resist in one day...until now.

Yesterday, I had my last piece of chocolate for a while.  I am very much a choco-holic.   When I came into the office, I had three pieces of chocolate candy on my desk from my boss. Very thoughtful, I know...but I had to do something.  I threw two away and only ate one of them!

This is what my yummy last chocolate looked like and it was so good!

Then, today, Jesse and his family planned a dinner get together.  They wanted to go to Rayners, a local fish restaurant.  I called ahead, and they only have one thing that isn't fried...boiled shrimp.  I'll pass lol.  Since I cannot have fried food, I resisted that temptation also and went to the gym instead.  Whew...I am glad I chose the gym!

The Game Plan

First, I want to thank Jesse (boyfriend), Abby (sister), and Lacey (best friend) for your help and encouragement.  These three read my first post and immediately offered support and a workout buddy.  I am so honored to have you three in my life and I love you guys for your continued support for every step I take.

So the first workout is over.  I finally bit the bullet and started.  Here's my game plan...  I will be weighing in once a month and measuring myself twice a month. Measure days will be the 1st and 15th of every month and weigh in day will be the 15th of each month.

My starting measurements are:

Chest 43.5
Waist: 40 inches
Hips: 54 inches
Thigh (4 inches above knee): 28 inches

To keep myself on track, I will be using money.  Yes, MONEY! I am setting monthly goals (realistic goals) that I hope to reach in my weight loss.  If I reach my goal, I spend the amount of money on myself.  If I do not reach my goal, I will donate that money to a local charity.  I will say $15.00 is my "bribe" amount each month.  (With going back to school part time in a week and full time nursing school in a few months, I want an amount that I can afford to give away on any budget if I don't meet my goal).

My goal for this month is to lose 2 to 3 pounds per week.  Since I will be weighing in after only 2.5 weeks, I will set a goal of 8 pounds. Wish me luck!

Today's workout:
5 minutes walking at 3 mph
5 minutes walking at 3.5 mph
10 minutes on the elliptical
5 minutes on a stationery bicycle
2 minutes on a stair master (this is NOT going to be my friend...)
55 sit ups on the yoga ball
50 crunches on the abdomen machine at 50 pounds resistance
15 reps of throwing/squatting a 5 pound medicine ball

So today's workout was rather easy in hindsight, but I will be adding more each day.  I WILL MEET MY GOALS!

The Start of Losing It

At 22 years old, I am finally realizing that my life needs a little guidance. I'll start at the beginning...

For the past few weeks, I have been evaluating my life.  I have found myself in a wonderful relationship with an amazing man named Jesse, having a great job for the past three years, and beginning nursing school in a few weeks. I have an awesome family that I love to spend time with, and 3 precious dogs that keep me pretty busy.  I have paid off my car and have no debts.  I'm blessed with the sweetest and most caring best friends in the world, and I know they will be my support through this journey.  Yes, I truly have it made.

However, over the course of this evaluation, I also realized that I have become "comfortable" in life.  I haven't cared about myself like I should have and now I'm finding myself at a whopping 263 pounds. I will be posting my weight loss journey online to hold myself accountable.  I hope that any readers will challenge themselves like I am challenging myself.  I have put all of my shame aside, in order to finally take control of my life.

Beginning Details:
Weight: 263 pounds
Height: 5'9" *Let's hope this doesn't change :)
Pant Size: 22/24
Shirt Size: XL

Goal Details
Weight: 140-150 pounds
Pant Size: 8/10
Shirt Size: M

I have not taken measurements yet, but I will be posting those shortly.
