So Sorry!

I have neglected this blog for quite some time.  I feel terrible that I haven't tracked what I have been doing.  I have still been going to the gym, but school is becoming a top priority.  When I'm not working or at the gym, I'm studying.  This leaves me little time to blog, but I'm going to try to get back to blogging.

I have not strayed from my healthy eating since starting my diet in December.  I have found substitutions at fast food restaurants too.  I used to be the girl that wanted the fried chicken sandwich and a large order of fries, but I am now the girl that orders the grilled chicken sandwich with a side salad when I go to Chick-fil-a.  This is not a regular thing, I mostly cook, but it is nice in a pinch.  Only 495 calories for the grilled sandwich and salad as opposed to 860 with the fried sandwich and fries.

Last night was a quick workout:

35 minutes on the elliptical
1 minute running 5.5 mph on the treadmill (Never in my life have I been able to run, so I'm trying to work on that next)
4 minutes walking 3-4 mph on the treadmill

I have a quiz on Wednesday, so I won't be at the gym tonight.

Only 14 more days until my next weigh in.  I cannot wait to see if I met my goal!

Lacey and I will begin dance classes next Monday.  They are two hours long once a week.  I can hardly wait!!

1/18/2011 Workout

Before the workout details, here's a little bit about me...

I am addicted to The Biggest Loser! I have watched several seasons, but for some reason I'm more into this season.  The teams are working as ONE team and encouraging each other to lose the weight, not individuals trying to win money at the end of the season.  I love it!

With that said, TBL is advertising their "Pound for Pound Challenge".  I have pledged my weight loss on their website, http://www.pfpchallenge.com/.  There's a cap of 50 pounds per person.  But when I lose my 50 pounds, they will donate 50 pounds of food to a local food bank.  Just think about 50 pounds of hamburger meat! That's a whole lot of food for charity!

Yesterday I stayed under my calorie allotment, and spent about an hour and a half at the gym.

35 minutes on the elliptical
50 shoulder presses at 30 pounds resistance
10 bicep curls at 40 pounds resistance
20 bicep curls at 30 pounds resistance
150 crunches on the ab machine at 60 pounds resistance
50 reps on the tricep machine at 40 pounds resistance
50 seated chest presses at 35 pounds resistance
50 leg extensions at 50 pounds resistance
60 seated leg curls at 80 pounds resistance
45 reps on the rowing machine at 35 pounds resistance
15 minutes on the stationary bike

While I was at the gym, this seemed like so much more.  Now that I'm looking at it listed out, I'm realizing that if I want to see 243 by February 15th, I'm going to have to kick it up a few notches.

No workout tonight due to school, but I will be back in the gym on Thursday!

First Weigh In

Today is my third week of dieting and exercising.  I am still doing well on my diet and staying under my allotted 1200 calories per day. I'm learning quite a bit as far as new ways of cooking, and found several new veggies that I like.

Saturday I actually tried onions, tomatoes, and cucumbers in a salad.  Before starting this diet, I would have picked off all of that!

I had my first weigh in on the 15th.  I was right on target too! I have lost 8 pounds in 2.5 weeks.  My new weight is 255 pounds!   Since I met my goal, I will keep the $15.00 and put that in a savings fund for myself.  When I meet my goal of 150 pounds, I will give myself all the money to go on a shopping spree!

My next goal is 12 pounds by February 15th.  If I meet this goal, again I will add $15.00 to my shopping spree fund.  If I do not meet this goal, I will donate it to a local charity.

Also, if I meet the goal of 12 pounds, that will be a total of 20 pounds lost.  At 20 pounds, I'm rewarding myself with a pedicure.  Jesse has agreed that we will wait to go on a Valentine's date until after the 15th so that I can check my weight.  I would love to have a new pedicure before going out with him. :-D

1/14/2011 & 1/15/2011 Workouts

I have really neglected my blog over the past few days, and I feel terrible about that.  Wednesday, I had class, so I was not able to go to the gym.  Thursday was my anniversary with Jesse, so we spent the night watching movies and again no workout.  Friday, I finally made it back to the gym! I did a short workout, but I still managed to work out.

1/14/2011
35 minutes on the elliptical (increased incline)
15 minutes on the stationary bike

Saturday was a short workout also.  I had quite a bit of running to do, but knew I HAD to make it to the gym for a little while.

1/15/2011
35 minutes on the elliptical (increased incline)
15 minutes on the stationary bike

1/11/2011 Workout

Last night I wasn't feeling the gym at all.  I was actually feeling a little sick, but I told myself that if I don't go, I'll never make it to my goal.  So I went : ).

35 minutes on the elliptical
20 minutes on the stationary bike
1 mile on the treadmill (it's super boring to me, so I bumped the speed to 4 mph.  15 minutes to walk a mile is nothing!)
60 shoulder presses at 30 pounds resistance
50 bicep curls at 30 pounds resistance
140 crunches at 60 pounds resistance
50 reps on the tricep machine at 40 pounds resistance
80 seated chest presses at 35 pounds resistance
35 incline chest presses at 30 pounds resistance
110 seated leg curls at 80 pounds resistance
80 leg extensions at 50 pounds resistance
45 reps on the rowing machine at 35 pounds resistance
40 lying leg curls at 40 pounds resistance

Yesterday I stayed under my calorie allotment, and was over my water minimum. Yay me! Even more exciting though is I didn't have to cook dinner.  Jesse has picked up on my cooking habits and weighed the salmon, measured the spices, and measured the green beans to 1 serving size.  Gotta love it!

Tonight I start school, so no workout. I'm kind of upset that I won't be able to go to the gym, but I really need to be in school.  On a good note, I have 6 other days during the week that I can turn into workout days!

One last happy note for the day... I went to see my sister last night.  I haven't seen her in about a week, and she told me that she could see that I was losing weight already! That made my whole week! :-D

1/10/2011 Workout

I fell off track for 3 days and I hated every minute of it! I stuck to my diet, but didn't go to the gym at all.

Friday and Saturday I spent cleaning the house and trying to get everything back in order from the holidays.  Sunday, the weather was extremely bizzare.  In south Mississippi, snow is so rare that most of us can't remember the last time we've seen it.  But Sunday we were under snow and freezing rain warnings.  I wasn't brave enough to leave the house because if it were to snow, I might not make it home.  We have no way of clearing roads or keeping ice from forming.  I just didn't feel that going to the gym was worth the risk.  So I took another day off.

Yesterday I got back on track though.  I went straight from work to the gym and worked out for two hours!

Here's what I did:

35 minutes on the elliptical
20 minutes on the stationary bike
60 shoulder presses at 30 pounds resistance
50 bicep curls at 30 pounds resistance
140 crunches at 60 pounds resistance
50 reps on the tricep machine at 40 pounds resistance
80 seated chest presses at 35 pounds resistance
35 incline chest presses at 30 pounds resistance
110 seated leg curls at 80 pounds resistance
80 leg extensions at 50 pounds resistance
40 lying leg curls at 40 pounds resistance
65 sit ups on the medicine ball
3 minutes on the stairmaster

I forgot that if I stop the bike, it clears the time, so no picture of the bike today.

Tomorrow I start back to school.  I haven't been in school since the beginning of my sophomore year in college-2007! I'm a little nervous about it.  I won't be able to work out on Wednesday nights anymore since I'll be in class until 10:00.  I'm a little upset about that, but that will have to be my new day off.

NEW CHALLENGE!

I cannot believe I forgot to post this! I started a challenge on the 5th to be on the elliptical 30 minutes minimum for 30 days! I might be crazy, but I like a challenge! Today will be day 3 and so far so good.  Both Wednesday and Thursday night I did 35 minutes, so I feel pretty good about this challenge!

~ Wish me luck! ~

30 bicep curls at 30 pounds resistance
105 cruches at 60 pounds resistance

60 seated chest presses at 35 pounds resistance
25 inclined chest presses at 30 pounds resistance
60 seated leg curls at 80 pounds resistance
50 leg extensions at 50 pounds resistance
30 reps on the rowing machine at 35 pounds resistance
30 lying leg curls at 30 pounds resistance
2 minutes on the stairmaster
50 crunches on the medicine ball

Jesse even joined me at the gym last night! It was nice having someone to challenge me while I was there.

I've also started a Valentine's challenge.  I am challenging myself to lose 20 pounds from my start weight by February 15th.  I am aware that this is the day after Valentine's, but I am not willing to throw off my weighing schedule for one day. My reward to myself will be a manicure and pedicure :). Can't wait for the results!

I'm looking forward to another great workout tonight!

1/4/2011 Workout

So last night I really slacked off pretty badly.  I only did 30 minutes on the elliptical.  The gym was terribly hot from the second I walked in the door, and working out wasn't making it any cooler.  I am very disappointed that I didn't do more, but it's a new day and I will have to make up for it tonight.  So after my 30, I left.

I must have been really tired too because I fell asleep, on the couch nonetheless, at 9:00 pm! That is WAY early for me, so I hope I'm not coming down with something.

Jesse joined the gym last night also.  I'm glad that I have lots of people to keep me on track now. Yay for workout buddies!

New Workout DVD!

I was looking on fitnessmagazine.com for a recommendation on a workout video, and came across Weight Loss Cardio Kick. I ordered it and it came in yesterday.  I am so excited to add this to my routine!

I'm going to try my best to stick with it.  I have P90X, but didn't make it too far with that...  I'm hoping this one will be a little less challenging for beginners, but increase throughout.  We'll see!

1/2/2011 Workout

The first workout of 2011 was a great one! I didn't work out yesterday because I was spending the new year with family, but I didn't stray from my diet or water only beverage restriction.

Today's workout:
30 minutes on the elliptical (up 3 minutes from Friday)
100 crunches at 60 pounds resistance
40 shoulder presses at 30 pounds resistance
20 bicep curls at 30 pounds resistance
30 tricep curls at 50 pounds resistance
50 seated chest presses at 35 pounds resistance
20 incline chest presses at 30 resistance
50 seated leg curls at 80 pounds resistance
50 leg extensions at 50 pounds resistance
1 minute on the stair master

Tonight, I also tried a completely vegan meal for the first time. Veggie burger, squash, and green beans.  It was actually very good.  I'm not a vegan or vegetarian, but I do like veggies and a meat-less meal is fine by me.

12/31/2010 Workout

Happy new year!  This weekend was extremely busy, and I have neglected my blog.  I took off Thursday and Saturday to rest and be with family. However, I did make it to the gym on Friday and Sunday.

Friday's workout:
100 crunches at 60 pounds resistance
30 shoulder presses at 30 resistance
30 chest presses at 35 resistance
50 crunches on the medicine ball
40 leg extensions at 65 pounds resistance
10 reps on a rowing machine at 20 pounds resistance
30 reps on a rowing machine at 35 pounds resistance
40 lying leg curls at 40 resistance
1/2 mile on the treadmill at 4 mph
27 minutes on the elliptical

I challenged myself on the elliptical Friday by adding 11 minutes to my time! I am so happy that I did because I'm feeling great already!

Happy new year everyone! I hope 2010 was as blessed for you as it was for me.  Best wishes in 2011!
